Rotary International was the first service organization, founded on February 23, 1905 by Paul P. Harris–the Rotary Club of Chicago. His vision was to create a professional club that had the same friendly, community spirit that he felt growing up in a small town.
Harris’ vision has gone far beyond it simple start. Rotary International is now over 33,000 clubs in more than 200 countries. Our members are a global network of business and professional leaders serving their communities with their time and talents.
Rotary’s motto is Service Above Self and sparks a humanitarian spirit that is embraced by the organization’s 1.2 million members.
